Camden National Bank's Risk and Compliance groupseeks to hire an analyst to join its team of compliance professionals. The Risk and Compliance Analyst will assistin the implementation and administration of all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Actcompliance program and assist with various assignments supporting theCompliance Program of the bank, under the guidance of the Bank Secrecy Act(BSA) Officer. This position performs various quality control reviews andmonitoring pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, Anti-MoneyLaundering Program, OFAC, and Customer Identification Program compliance usingindustry standard and regulatory guidance to ensure the Bank's complianceefforts are maintained on a daily basis. This position shall advise the BSAOfficer and other Risk and Compliance staff of compliance issues and work withthe team to execute existing controls to mitigate risks.
The ideal candidate will have the education and experiencedetailed below, as well as some experience in banking. Preferably, thecandidate will be familiar with banking operations systems and processes,although significant experience in the risk and compliance operations of anotherindustry will be considered. The candidate shall demonstrate an ability to workindependently, prioritizing tasks to complete objectives efficiently and in atimely manner. The candidate shalldemonstrate a willingness to work in a team-centered environment, collaboratingwith other Compliance staff to address issues as they arise.
Ideally, the candidate will be a creative thinker andproblem solver with a strong work ethic and eye for detail. This position requires comfort withtechnology and a willingness to learn several new systems to perform requiredjob duties. Familiarity with financialregulatory compliance is helpful, although not required. Although a backgroundin banking and/or compliance is desired, this position is suitable for any candidatewho has demonstrated superior academic or professional achievement, flexibility,and organization. Strong writing, communication, and analytical skills will berequired.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for a variety of tasks related toBSA monitoring using the bank's transaction monitoring software to analyzepotential suspicious customer activity and prevent potential fraud losses, whichincludes but is not limited to the following:
Identify,review and investigate activities of high risk customers of the bank;
Investigateand resolve suspicious activity alerts;
Investigateand resolve daily debit card fraud, account fraud, and OFAC alerts;
Completeenhanced due diligence reviews for high risk customers;
Completecustomer behavior reviews;
Identifypotential weakness or gaps in the BSA/AML automated software solution to insureintegrity of the system in the normal course of after any system upgrade(s).
Responsible for the preparation and filing of suspiciousactivity reports;
Supports activities related to gathering andmaintaining the bank's listing of all designated exempt person(s), along withall supporting documentation as required by FinCEN;
Responsible for retrieving and handling 314(b) collaborationrequests and keep documentation of the search within the banks automatedsoftware solution;
Responsible for assisting, tracking and respondingto IRS and State of Maine levies, subpoenas, and court orders;
Assists the BSA Officer in gathering informationfor audits and regulatory exams;
Responsible for taking part in the review andupdating of the day-to-day compliance operating procedures that support thevarious activities within the department ;
Provides input to BSA Officer on controlweaknesses, policy enhancements and training needs to ensure bank-widecompliance;
Provides support to all stakeholders company-wideas it relates to compliance or other project initiatives.
Education and/or Experience
Undergraduate degree or high school diploma with 3-5years general banking or regulatory agency experience, with an emphasis oncompliance and/or operations.
Communication Skills
Excellent oral and writtencommunication skills with ability to communicate effectively with staff at alllevels. Ability to instruct others, train personnel, write reports,correspondence and procedures, and speak clearly to customers and employees. Persuasive and team-oriented, with a
Reasoning Ability
The candidate should be able to review and analyzedata to independently draw common-sense conclusions.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individualshould feel comfortable using the internet to research compliance andcustomer-related issues. The candidateshould have demonstrated knowledge of all Microsoft Office products, especiallyexcel, word, and power point. Demonstratedfamiliarity with banking systems and operations is helpful but not necessary. The candidate should demonstrate an appetiteand willingness to learn multiple new systems.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
